BACKHOME ADU
ACCESSIBLE + AFFORDABLE HOUSING
THE GOAL
In 2019, I was approached by the Portland Affordable Housing Preservation Trust with an opportunity to help launch an affordable housing pilot.
BackHome ADU aims to confront the affordable housing crisis and create positive community change, one ADU at a time.
Assembling a team consisting of a strategist, copywriter, and designer, we prepared to break ground.

SOLUTIONS
In order to solve the problems that hit closest to home,
we need close to home solutions.
Our team led a comprehensive branding excavation including: market, competitor, and audience research, messaging hierarchy, voice development, UX research and creation, design and logo concepting.
Within 6 months, we created a unique, stable brand supported by a full service platform. This enabled BackHome ADU to focus on what’s important: Confronting the affordable housing crisis, one ADU at a time.
“Because our backyards can help solve the problem.”
THE RESULTS
BackHome ADU’s pilot will launch Spring 2021
Home is more than a place.
It’s for hanging hats and tossing keys. It’s an intersection of families and friends. It’s freedom from worry. It’s shelter and security. And it’s a seed from which opportunity grows. Home is a feeling, one we believe no person should live without.
The only feeling better, is the feeling of giving a home to someone else.

THE GOAL
As a national organization, the EngAGE mission is to empower people – intellectually, creatively and emotionally – to do what they do best for the rest of their lives, ultimately gaining mastery, life enrichment, and engagement. We work to provide communities with affordable housing and artistically focused activities.
“The arts open people up, giving them new vehicles for self-expression, a chance to tell their stories,” Ms. Tursini said. “The programs capitalize on assets that remain, not on what’s been lost.”
